CHRISTIAN FEMINIST THEOLOGIES IN A GLOBAL CONTEXT with Dr. Deidre Green
*attendance available in-person or virtually*
This course will examine the development of contemporary feminist theology, philosophy of religion, and theological ethics from 1960 to the present. Students will explore theology that centers women's experience as a source of authority and will gain an appreciation of the breadth of approaches for engaging religious topics through a feminist lens. We will address the importance of contextualizing women's issues and look at the array of cultural and ethnic approaches within the broader field of feminist studies in religion. After getting a broad overview of the history, development, and proliferation of feminist religious writings across cultures, the course will proceed topically, addressing the nature of God, theological anthropology, the nature of sin, theodicy, self-sacrifice, redemption, vocation, communal flourishing, and so on.
