MYSTICISM, MEDITATION, & MINDFULNESS: INTRO TO CONTEMPLATIVE STUDIES with Dr. Rita Sherma
*attendance available in-person only*
*Mysticism, Meditation, & Mindfulness: Introduction to Contemplative Studies* Many religions and spiritual traditions have a palette of practices that seek to or experience the fullness of God, or divine reality. Such contemplative praxes range widely from silent meditations, to contemplation on beautiful iconic art and sacred sound, to ecstatic dances. Using the approaches of art & religion, mysticism, pilgrimage studies, visual & material culture, and introductory contemplative studies methodologies, we will embark on a journey to explore the ways by which human communities—across cultures—have tried to “touch the face of God.”
